Industry is a defining sector for the economic development of the Lepel region. Effective operation requires the implementation of a modern and forward-looking industrial policy aimed at boosting investment and innovation activities, modernising equipment, introducing new and cutting-edge technologies, increasing production efficiency, and enhancing competitiveness through a transition to an innovative development path.

Naturally, competition is a key driver for modernisation. KUVP "Borovka" achieved a significant reduction in costs, by 19.7 percent. The enterprise has implemented measures to replace pump equipment with more efficient units, introduced frequency-controlled electric drives, and energy-efficient lighting. The implementation stages of the innovation project "Introduction of innovative products for export-oriented production" have continued. As a result, a net profit exceeding 720 thousand rubles was generated, with a sales profitability of 15.5 percent.

The "Lepel" branch of ZAT "Vitebskagropromproduct" is also keeping pace with the times. In particular, this year a complex of buildings (former oil depot) located on Borisovsky Tract street was acquired, and the implementation of the investment project "Organisation of production for the processing of oil crops, obtaining soybean, sunflower, and rapeseed meal, as well as oil from these crops on former unused communal property facilities of the district (former military town No. 1 "Lepel")" has commenced.

The "Lepel Bakery" branch of OAO "Vitebskhlebprom" is confidently mastering new products in demand by consumers. The range has been expanded and updated. Three types of bakery products have been mastered: "Sdobny" baton, "Katenka" plait, "Apetytny" white bread, "Dachnoye" shortbread with jam, "Palchiki oblizhesh" flour confectionery with festive decoration for May 9th, "Bulba" pastry, "Medovy lasunok" flour confectionery with dried apricots, "Pasochnaya poloska" flour confectionery, and "Elita" pastry. Naturally, the Lepel bakers did not delay in taking another step towards consumers. Additional packaging of cookies and gingerbread in 0.3 kg, 0.5 kg, and 1.0 kg bags has been mastered. In the first half of the year, 74 tons of products were supplied to the markets of Minsk city alone, which is thirty tons more than in the corresponding period last year.
