Belarus needs change, but not at the cost of civil confrontation or revolutions. This was emphasized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Makei, in his address to the employees of the Belarusian diplomatic service system, as reported by BELTA.
"Changes are needed, nobody denies this. But not at the cost of civil confrontation or revolutions. In this case, the casualties and negative consequences will be many times greater. We have already been thrown back many years in our development due to the events of recent days," believes Vladimir Makei.
He stressed that Belarusians and the country do not deserve this. "Even if slow, an evolutionary process ultimately always proves to be more effective. We deserve better, where everyone is a person, a compatriot, a partner to each other and to the whole world, and not 'red' or 'white'," the minister stated.
Vladimir Makei added that Belarusians are currently going through a painful stage of forming an independent state and maturing civil society. "Always analyze the situation. It is difficult with such an information flow, but you know how to do it," he addressed his colleagues. "At this fateful moment for our country, it is more important than ever to defend Belarus's foreign policy interests. They are unchanging, they have been, they are, and they will not go away. Therefore, without emotion, answer yourself the question: can I still benefit the country in my area of work? I have answered this question for myself, because I do not want to lose my country. If your answer is positive, cast aside doubts and let's continue to responsibly do our job! Perhaps fate has been preparing you for this very moment in history!"
