The employment rate in the working age (men - 16-59 years, women - 16-54 years) was 80.9% (in 2015 - 82%). The highest employment rate was observed in the age group of 40-44 years - 90.2%.
According to Belstat, in December 2016, 4,381.3 thousand people were employed in the economy of the republic, which is 2% less than in December 2015. In the total employed population, 3,007.4 thousand people, or 68.6%, were employees of organisations (excluding micro-organisations and small organisations not under departmental subordination).
In December last year, organisations (excluding micro-organisations and small organisations not under departmental subordination) hired 40.3 thousand people (1.3% of the average monthly number), and dismissed 50.5 thousand people for various reasons (1.7% of the average monthly number).
The employee replacement rate (the ratio of the number of hired to the number of dismissed) in December 2016 was 0.798 (in December 2015 - 0.799).
