An interdenominational prayer meeting was held at St. Casimir's Church. Its main motto was the words "I pray for you, Belarus...". Various interdenominational events have been held in Lepel before, for example, the creative festival "Christmas Meetings". This is not surprising, as believers of different Christian denominations live together in the town and district: Orthodox, Catholics, and Protestants. A team was assembled from each community, parish, and diocese, and amateurs sang songs, danced, and staged performances.
As Adam Kolyada said, people have more in common than differences, so we must seek and find common ground. This can be education, upbringing of the younger generation, cultural events, and environmental actions.
The idea of a joint meeting, one might say, was in the air, claims the main initiator of the event, Father Andrei; the priests only gave an impetus. They met, discussed organizational issues, and agreed on the themes of their performances. The result was unexpected – all those who wished could not fit into the pews of the church, and it is not small. Even extra benches did not help; many people were standing.
Prayer is what we want to say to God. Scripture is what God wants to say to us. It is a pity that most people do not go to churches, do not take their children there, and do not read the Holy Scripture.
At the end of the meeting, everyone sang the prayer "Mighty God" together, and Father Adam Kolyada presented Father Andrei with a statuette of Jesus Christ.
