A mother and son died today in a fire in the Verkhnedvinsk district, the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fondo, told a BELTA correspondent. Early in the morning, the operational control center of the Verkhnedvinsk District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a house fire in the village of Borkovichi, Verkhnedvinsk district. Upon arrival at the scene, open burning of the residential building was observed, and the roof and ceiling had collapsed. The owner of the house, a pensioner born in 1948, lived alone. According to neighbors, the woman abused alcohol. The pensioner was registered as living alone. However, on pension days, her unemployed son visited her from Novopolotsk. On such days, gatherings of alcohol enthusiasts took place at the house. The day before the fire, neighbors saw the owner's son in a state of intoxication. Rescuers discovered the bodies of the owner and her son at the fire scene. The fire destroyed the roof and ceiling, and damaged the walls and property. The preliminary cause of the fire is carelessness while smoking in a state of intoxication by the owner's son.-0-
