21 July, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Management in collective farm operations will increase the efficiency of agricultural work. This opinion was expressed on the air of the "Belarus 1" TV channel by the director of an investment company, Roman Osipov, speaking about the prospects for the privatisation of inefficient agricultural enterprises, BELTA reports.
The expert emphasised that significant investments had been made in agriculture, and good infrastructure had been created, and now an increase in performance should be expected. "To increase the efficiency in the sector and the return on state funds invested, quality management must be used in the operation of collective farms," said Roman Osipov. "Unfortunately, some collective farms, due to the lack of people who care about the cause and want to increase efficiency, are leading a miserable existence, despite the available infrastructure. Privatisation will create an owner interested in increasing productivity."
He noted that such a sector of agriculture as animal husbandry can be highly efficient in the country. For this, not so much crop yields and a warm climate are important, but the quality of the approach and the availability of infrastructure.
At the same time, Roman Osipov drew attention to the problem of labour shortage. "What is lacking is the simplest thing – qualified agronomists. This relates to salaries and investments in management. As soon as an investor or owner appears who is interested in the development of a collective farm, they will try to attract highly qualified people by paying decent money," believes the director of the investment company.
In his conviction, Belarus is attractive to potential investors as the world's largest exporter of dairy products. "The achieved level of infrastructure – good roads, normal electricity supply, investments in specific production complexes – can serve as a very good starting point to make it easier and more profitable for investors to implement projects," concluded the expert. -0-
