"Change your style to winter!" – under this title, on November 24, 2023, the State Automobile Inspectorate will hold a Unified Road Safety Day dedicated to the topic of preparing vehicles for winter operation.

It is important to note: "winter" tires are installed on all wheels of the vehicle and must have a residual tread depth of at least 4 mm.
Therefore, it is better to switch to winter tires in advance: with the first night frosts, but before the first snowfall.
Tires marked with a symbol of a mountain peak with three peaks and a snowflake inside, or with the markings "M+S", "M&S", "M.S", "M S", or "All seasons" are accepted as winter tires. However, it is worth remembering that all-season tires are designed for a milder European climate.
Failure to use winter tires on a vehicle incurs administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 0.5 basic units (Part 5 of Article 18.18 of the Code of Administrative Offences).
In the event that winter tires are installed on the vehicle, but the residual tread depth is less than 4 mm, the fine will be up to 1 basic unit. Repeated violation of this kind within a year will result in a fine of 2 to 5 basic units.
