Fire Safety Month

With the aim of preventing fires and fatalities, a month-long campaign on educating the public on fire safety rules in domestic and industrial settings will be held in Lepel District from March 1 to March 31. This campaign encompasses a comprehensive set of measures to enhance preventive work aimed at ensuring fire safety conditions at facilities, settlement territories, and housing stock. The primary focus of the campaign is on preventive work and inspection of the households of lonely pensioners, disabled individuals, large families, and the so-called "risk group," which includes dysfunctional families, individuals abusing alcohol, and families where children are raised in inadequate conditions. Throughout the month, personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), inspection commissions, district police inspectors, social security department employees, and volunteer fire brigades are scheduled to conduct daily inspections of the housing stock, including fire-technical surveys of the residences of these categories of citizens. Another key aspect of the campaign involves conducting fire safety training sessions at enterprises and educational institutions. Training on life safety fundamentals and measures to prevent fires and emergencies is planned for social workers, ambulance service personnel, public utility workers, and other specialists involved in preventive work. Performances by MES employees will be organized in schools and at parent-teacher meetings, with a primary focus on preventing fires caused by children's negligence with fire and on raising awareness about the unacceptability of leaving children unattended. Particular attention will be paid during housing inspections to the condition of stove heating and electrical wiring in citizens' homes. Based on the analysis of residential buildings inspected during the campaign, information on all problematic issues will be prepared and sent to all relevant prevention stakeholders. The repair of faulty stove heating and electrical wiring in the homes of lonely, elderly, dysfunctional citizens, and disabled individuals will be under special control. In this regard, the Lepel District MES urges the residents of the district to take all necessary measures to bring their housing stock into a fire-safe condition.
