30 May, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova – BELTA/. Local authorities must strictly fulfill the promises made to citizens. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee of State Control of Belarus, Alexander Yakobson, during the first stage of monitoring citizens' appeals, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent.
"If it is impossible to solve a citizen's problem, one must honestly say so. And if there is even the slightest opportunity to help, it is necessary to use it and solve the problem by one's own efforts. Local authorities are clearly not working hard enough here. For example, in the town of Disna, Miory District, the problem of a shortage of ATMs is acute, and local authorities are making no attempts to solve it," said Alexander Yakobson.
He also emphasized that this year there has been an increase in the number of citizens' appeals to the CSC from residents of Tolochin District. This fact indicates that citizens do not trust local authorities and prefer to seek help from higher authorities.
The reception of residents of Tolochin District by the Chairman of the CSC was held as part of the first stage of monitoring the work of local authorities with the population. The interdepartmental working group, which is working in the Vitebsk region, includes officials from the central apparatus of the Committee of State Control and the CSC of the Vitebsk region, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Architecture and Construction, the regional prosecutor's office, and the financial police of the CSC.
During the first stage of monitoring citizens' appeals, the head of the CSC met with representatives of labor collectives, trade union and youth organizations in Miory and Tolochin districts. He held a reception of citizens at the Tolochin District Executive Committee. Today's program includes a direct telephone line at the Chashniki District Executive Committee.-0-
