By August 14 inclusive, local executive and administrative bodies shall determine the locations for pre-election campaigning by candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Nikolai Lozovik, Secretary of the Central Commission of Belarus for Elections and Republican Referendums. No later than August 14, local authorities, in agreement with district election commissions, shall determine the premises where candidates for deputies and their proxies will hold meetings with voters, as well as for pre-election meetings of voters themselves. In addition, within the same period, local executive committees shall determine the locations for holding, on a notification basis, outdoor meetings, rallies, and pickets to be organised by candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives and their proxies. "This information will be available on the websites of local executive and administrative bodies," informed the Secretary of the Central Election Commission. Nikolai Lozovik added that by August 14 inclusive, local authorities shall allocate the most visited places within polling station territories for the placement of campaign materials. Speaking about the innovation of pre-election campaigning for these parliamentary elections – debates, the Secretary of the Central Election Commission noted that much of their organisation depends on television and radio companies. "Each will develop its own regulations, clearly defining the procedures, rights, and responsibilities of participants and hosts of televised debates. More details on this matter can be discussed after the district commissions register the candidates for deputies and they, in turn, express their desire to debate," he said. At this stage of the election campaign, political parties and work collectives are determining who among their representatives will compete for the right to hold a deputy seat. Initiative groups of contenders for parliamentary seats are collecting signatures. Nikolai Lozovik reminded that persons nominated as candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives must submit the necessary documents for registration to the district commissions by August 13 inclusive.
