7 May, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A metallurgical plant will be built in the Miory District. This was announced today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a ceremonial reception for representatives of the region's media on the occasion of Press Day, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The new production facility will specialise in the output of tinplate sheets. It is planned that the annual output will be worth €405-420 million.
An investment agreement under Presidential Decree No. 10 for the implementation of this project has been concluded with the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by the private Belarusian company "MMPZ-Group", added the Deputy Chairman of the Miory District Executive Committee, Alexander Bodanin. According to him, the project's business plan has already been developed, and funding sources have been identified. The total investment required for the project is approximately €280 million. Construction of the production facility is planned to commence this year, with commissioning scheduled for 2018.
Alexander Kosinets also noted that priority is given in the Vitebsk region to the modernisation and reconstruction of existing production facilities and the implementation of new promising projects. For instance, this year the region plans to commission new cheese factories in Postavy and Braslav, and a fish processing enterprise in Braslav. Work is also underway to create the footwear holdings "Belvest" and "Marko". -0-
