Meteorologists of Belarus and Russia will discuss information provision issues on 14-15 September at a joint board meeting in Novopolotsk, the head of the Vitebsk Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Alla Sholokhovich, told a BELTA correspondent. The main agenda item for the 53rd meeting of the joint board of the Union State Committee for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Pollution Monitoring concerns the timely provision of necessary information to the public, state administration bodies, and enterprises in various sectors of the economy (housing and communal services, transport, energy) in order to minimise the consequences of natural disasters or prevent environmental catastrophes. Participants will also discuss the formation and creation of a unified scientific, methodological, and organisational-administrative framework of documents in their field of activity, as provided for by the Union programme, the implementation and use of new technical software tools, and the state of surface waters in the transboundary sections of the Western Dvina and Dnieper rivers. Among the participants of the event are the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, Vladimir Tsalko, and representatives of interested departments of Belarus and Russia. It is expected that on 14 September, the Deputy State Secretary of the Union State, Ivan Bambiza, will take part in the board's work.-0-
