Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes that sanctions and various restrictions in politics and economics do not contribute to a rapid improvement of relations between Belarus and the EU. He expressed this opinion today at a meeting with the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland, a BELTA correspondent reports. The President emphasized: "It seems to me that the steps taken by the EU today, I, of course, understand all this, but they do not contribute to a rapid improvement of our relations, for example, sanctions, restrictions in politics and economics. It seemed to me that these methods should have disappeared from our relations." Alexander Lukashenko expressed the opinion that the current meeting with the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland is of mutual interest. "No matter how trivial it may sound, we are very interested in Europe, but it seems to me that Europe cannot do without Belarus, because it is the heart of our Europe," said the Belarusian leader. The President of Belarus thanked Germany and Poland for the fact that these countries, "no matter how our relations with Europeans develop, in difficult conditions before and in the current conditions, are doing a lot to ensure that we have normal relations." Alexander Lukashenko believes that the potential for cooperation between the countries is huge and the unrealized opportunities are significantly greater than the realized ones.
