The XXXII International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music will open in Polotsk on April 3, as reported to BelTA correspondent by the Saint Sophia Cathedral.
The best chamber music performers from Belarus, Israel, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, and Italy will gather under its vaults. The grand opening of the festival will traditionally take place to the sounds of the Polotsk organ. The honor of opening the festival falls to the Lithuanian ensemble Basso Trio. The ensemble is distinguished by its unique performing composition, original style, combining exceptional virtuosity and musical insight. On April 7, Russian singer Tatiana Suchkova-Gavrilova and Italian organist Enrico Presti will present a program of the best examples of Italian organ and vocal classics, and modern music.
During the forum days, for the third time, the open regional children's piano competition "J.S. Bach and the 21st Century" will be organized. It will be held from April 10 to 12. 55 young pianists from 12 Belarusian cities will compete in the contest. The performance level will be assessed by a professional jury headed by Grigory Gruzman, professor at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar. The world-renowned pianist will also give a solo concert.
On April 20, brilliant artists from Israel, Lyubov Parkhomovskaya (violin) and Anatoly Tartakovsky (piano), will present an evening of Italian music to the audience.
The festival closing on April 24 will be a true event for music connoisseurs. On this day, the Belarusian premiere of J.S. Bach's "St. Mark Passion" reconstruction for soloists, choir, and orchestra, conducted by the outstanding musician, conductor, and harpsichordist, and author of this reconstruction, Jörn Boysen (Germany), will take place. In the grand project of performing Bach's lost masterpiece, alongside the musicians of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, German soloists Benjamin Glaubitz (tenor), Julian Redlin (bass-baritone), soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Belarus Tatyana Gavrilova (soprano), Natalia Akinina (mezzo-soprano), as well as an ensemble of Russian musicians specializing in playing Baroque instruments will perform.
