July 25, Minsk /BELTA/. The international youth camp "Be-La-Rus" opens today in the Vitebsk region, the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, Andrey Belyakov, told a BELTA correspondent.
The XXII International Youth Camp "Be-La-Rus" will bring together over 500 young people in the Vitebsk region from July 25 to 28. Annually, the forum symbolically takes place at the junction of the borders of Belarus, Latvia, and Russia near the Mound of Friendship, erected in memory of the combat cooperation of the partisans of the three countries.
The main theme of the current youth forum is "100 Ideas for 'Be-La-Rus-2013'", therefore the youth initiative competition "100 Ideas for Be-La-Rus" will be central this year.
For each initiative to improve the youth camp, the organizers will award multi-colored satin ribbons in the colors of the state symbols of the three countries. They are planned to decorate the so-called Tree of Ideas. After discussing the initiatives, the jury will select the three best ideas for the international youth camp "Be-La-Rus", which will be implemented in 2014.
Each year, one of the three youth organizations hosts the camp – the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Youth Union for Progress of Latvia, or the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Union of Youth". This year's "Be-La-Rus" is organized by the BRSM, so efforts will be made to give the event a Belarusian flavor. For example, for the first time, the "Be-La-Rus Fun" craft town will operate, where artisans will showcase their skills. In addition, the organizers will invite young people to participate in Belarusian folk games and contests.
Young men and women will also be able to compete in various creative contests – a bivouac competition, the "Be-La-Rus Dawns" festival, the "Best Couple of Be-La-Rus" competition, where contenders for victory will try on the images of Onegin and Tatiana, Romeo and Juliet, Bonnie and Clyde, Cleopatra and Mark Antony, and other couples. Participants can also expect a rich sports program: competitions in football, volleyball, tug-of-war, arm wrestling, and darts. -0-
