4 June, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The need to study youth issues in the Vitebsk region was highlighted by the interdepartmental working group for monitoring the performance of state bodies and organisations of the Vitebsk region with the public, as reported to BELTA by the Vitebsk Regional Committee for State Control. According to the working group members, the organisation of work with youth requires closer attention. As a rule, young people under the age of 22 do not attend mobile receptions of state officials and do not contact direct or hotlines with complaints. Their problems often remain outside the scope of authorities' attention. In this regard, the interdepartmental working group considers it expedient to conduct monitoring and sociological research specifically among young people. Direct communication between state officials and students of higher and secondary educational institutions will help to understand the sentiments of young people and fully implement the state youth policy. As noted by the members of the interdepartmental group, young people have legitimate grievances regarding the prolonged repairs of rural clubs and cultural centres, and the insufficient work of youth organisations. The interdepartmental working group for monitoring the performance of state bodies and organisations of the Vitebsk region with the public was established in accordance with the instructions of the President of Belarus. The group worked in Polotsk, Senno and Vitebsk districts at the end of May this year. Its work in the region was led by the Chairman of the Committee for State Control, Alexander Yakobson.-0-
