The Ministry of Finance of Belarus is considering the possibility of attracting macrofinancial assistance from the European Union.

This was reported to BelTA by the press service of the department following the negotiations between the Minister of Finance, Maksim Yermolovich, and the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.

"The parties discussed the EU's approaches to assisting Eastern Partnership countries in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Belarusian economy," the press service noted. "As well as the possibility of the European Union providing macrofinancial assistance to our country in addition to the IMF loan resources, which may be allocated within the framework of 'rapid financing instruments'."
