The First Deputy Minister of Education, Vadim Bogush, noted that in 2014, the salaries of pedagogical workers were increased twice and averaged 75.4% of the average salary in the republic. In particular, for teachers, this amounted to Br4.8 million, and for the teaching staff – Br6.9 million. "Among the sectors of the social sphere, education ranks low in terms of salary level based on the results of 2014," said the First Deputy Minister. "These are not the threshold values that we need to strive for."
"In 2015 and subsequent years, it is necessary to work on increasing the average salary of a teacher to the level of the average salary in the region, and for the teaching staff – one and a half times higher than the average salary in the republic," Vadim Bogush emphasized.
He also drew attention to some problems in the system of working with pedagogical staff. According to the First Deputy Minister, it is necessary to increase the prestige of the teaching profession and improve the system of training, retraining and professional development of staff and their retention in the profession. "In this direction, the ministry is working on the preparation and approval of the Concept for the Development of Pedagogical Education, which should be adopted this year," he reported.
