"In the 2020/2021 academic year, there will be minor changes in the standard curriculum for general secondary education regarding the number of study hours for individual subjects in the 10th grades (compared to the standard curriculum for the 2019/2020 academic year). The changes are related to the updating of the content of general secondary education, which has been carried out in stages since the 2015/2016 academic year," the press service reported.
In addition, from the new academic year, the subject of "technical drawing" will be studied in the 10th grades. "Due to the fact that the study of the geography of Belarus was moved to the 9th grades in 2019, one study hour has been allocated for the study of geography in the 10th grades. In the 10th-11th grades, the standard curriculum provides for the study of computer science at a basic level (1 hour per week) and an advanced level (3 hours per week)," the department noted.
For grades 1-9, there have been no changes in the list of subjects or the number of hours allocated for their study in the standard curriculum. The possibility of studying individual subjects at an advanced level in grades 8-9 (pre-profile training) and grades 10-11 (profile training) has been maintained.
The standard curriculum has been developed taking into account the sanitary and hygienic requirements for the mandatory weekly study load per student.
