JSC "Vitebskdrev" is implementing an investment project for the production of MDF (medium-density fibreboard) and HDF (high-density fibreboard) wood fibre boards. The project envisages the production of innovative boards, including laminated products based on wood raw materials, as well as laminated flooring, which is currently imported. The implementation of the investment project began in accordance with the State Programme for the Innovative Development of Belarus for 2007-2010 and was due to be completed in December 2009. Taking into account repeated postponements, the commissioning date of the new production facility has been rescheduled to June 2013, according to the schedule agreed with the interested parties. The construction readiness of the facility as of November 1, 2012, was 36.7%, compared to the planned 81.96% for that date.
The enterprise was established in 1927 and transformed into a JSC in 1994. "Vitebskdrev" is one of the largest woodworking companies in Belarus. It produces windows and doors, particleboard and fibreboard, sawn timber, flooring boards, and other products. The enterprise has an effective quality management system that complies with ISO 9000 requirements. In order to improve the environmental performance of its activities and prevent environmental pollution, "Vitebskdrev" has established and implemented an environmental management system based on the ISO 14000 series standards. The enterprise is part of the "Bellesbumprom" concern.
