The document has been adopted with the aim of increasing the responsibility and effectiveness of medical and pharmaceutical workers in performing their official duties, as well as citizens' trust in the healthcare system.
Regarding work with patients, rude, formal, and tactless attitudes, disclosure of medical confidentiality, etc., are not permitted. The document also defines the norms of relationships with colleagues, representatives of state bodies, and organisations. Healthcare professionals must demonstrate competence, correctness, responsibility, punctuality, etc. Furthermore, emergency medical care should be provided by healthcare professionals (within their capabilities) to individuals in need outside of healthcare organisations.
As previously reported to BELTA correspondent by Olga Marshalko, Head of the Department of Personnel Policy and Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Health, cases of violation of these norms will be considered by committees (commissions) on medical ethics and deontology, and anti-corruption commissions, which operate within healthcare organisations and other organisations subordinate to the Ministry of Health.
The Rules of Medical Ethics and Deontology have been approved by Resolution No. 64 of the Ministry of Health dated August 7, 2018. It comes into force after official publication.
