A significant number of party candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus is a positive aspect of the ongoing election campaign. This fact, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent, was noted by the head of the observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Antonio Milošoski. Today in Vitebsk, mission observers met with members of the district election commission for the Vitebsk-Gorky constituency No. 17 and with candidates for deputies running in it. "We have noted a larger number of party nominees, and this is assessed as a positive step," said Antonio Milošoski. At the same time, in his opinion, the election campaign is proceeding passively with low intensity. The OSCE ODIHR observation mission has established constant contact with representatives of all district election commissions and the Central Election Commission. The mission intends to publish a preliminary report on the results of the election campaign one day after the elections, and the final comprehensive report will be published eight weeks later. "Belarus is a significant member of the OSCE. We are here not to participate in politics, but to assess the election campaign process," emphasized Antonio Milošoski. In the Vitebsk region, 49 candidates are vying for 14 seats in the House of Representatives, 28 of whom are party nominees. The Liberal Democratic Party has shown the greatest activity: 23% of the candidates are its representatives. It is followed by the Belarusian Left Party "A Just World", which has five candidates running. -0-
