This was stated on July 15 by the chairman of the jury of the International Pop Song Performers Contest "Vitebsk-2012", Maxim Dunaevsky, at a celebratory concert in Vitebsk dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the National Concert Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, whose permanent artistic director is People's Artist of the Republic of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of Belarus, Professor Mikhail Finberg, reports BELTA correspondent. "I am pleased that my songs are in the orchestra's repertoire, it is an honour for me," said the Russian composer, congratulating the creative team. Maxim Dunaevsky accompanied the orchestra soloists who performed excerpts from songs he had written the music for. The orchestra's anniversary programme "We are 25! Everything begins anew", dedicated to the Day of the Union State at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, featured not only Belarusian performers but also famous Russian artists Sergey Drobotenko, Victoria Pier-Marie, Alexey Chumakov, and the "Maridans" ballet. A greeting to the participants and guests of the festival was sent by the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Sergey Naryshkin. Before the concert, the text of the greeting was read out by a deputy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Russian parliamentarian Alexey Kazakov. "It is gratifying to realise that the International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is one of the most vibrant and memorable cultural projects of the Union State, contributing to the expansion and strengthening of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries," the congratulatory message reads. The Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia also noted that the festival's ideals are consonant with the activities of the union parliamentarians in preserving and developing the common cultural space of the two states. "It is no coincidence that the Day of the Union State is held annually within the framework of the festival. "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", having firmly occupied a worthy place in the general process of mutual cultural enrichment, contributes to the creation of foundations for the formation of a Eurasian cultural heritage," the greeting states. Greetings were also sent by the State Secretary of the Union State, Grigory Rapota, and the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko.
