This was stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich on September 15 during an off-site meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, where issues of forestry were discussed, BELTA correspondent reports.
"We are developing new markets poorly. Especially since there is demand, particularly in the countries of Central and Middle Asia, where there is insufficient domestic forest raw materials," said the head of government.
The Prime Minister reported that negotiations are underway with Turkey, and it is planned not only to supply products to the domestic market of this country but also, with the help of Turkish partners, to establish supplies to other countries. Demand for products of the woodworking industry from traditional partners, in particular Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, is growing. "There is still a lot of work to be done in this area; we cannot yet say that the sales system and logistics are established, but both the BelleS_BumProm concern and the government are currently working on this," he added.
The head of government recalled that from 2016, Belarus will introduce a ban on the export of unprocessed timber. At the same time, he noted that round timber is no longer exported. "Woodworking enterprises of the Ministry of Forestry system produce products with high added value, and this, of course, means completely different money. Enterprises where modernization is nearing completion should focus on this," the Prime Minister noted.
With the introduction of new production capacities, the volume of processed raw materials will significantly increase. Belarusian timber is sufficient for the uninterrupted operation of all enterprises. At the same time, the Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that not all areas of the calculated logging area have convenient access, so the construction of forest roads needs to be intensified. For 2014, the program for the construction of forestry roads in the forest fund of the Ministry of Forestry provides for the commissioning of 137.2 km of roads.-0-
