Large families of the Vitebsk region have submitted a proposal for discussion at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly at a republican dialogue platform with the participation of government representatives. This was announced at a round table in Vitebsk, attended by these large families, by Vera Astapenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.
Three families from the Vitebsk region attended the dialogue platform with the participation of representatives of the Belarusian government. They submitted their proposals for discussion at the upcoming VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly, which will be included in the general list of issues received from large parents. Vadim and Olga Kotov from Orsha proposed introducing Father's Day in the country. The head of the family is a clergyman. "I proposed introducing Father's Day in the republic and timing this event to September 11, the day of the Beheading of John the Baptist. In the Orthodox calendar, this date is also a day of sobriety," said Father Vadim.
He noted that the introduction of such a day, by analogy with Mother's Day, would enhance both the prestige of fatherhood and the responsibility of men towards their wives and children. The "Man of the Year" competition, an analogue of which is held among the fair sex of the country, could be timed to this holiday.
"I communicate with many people and see that not all fathers understand their role in the family, not only young ones but sometimes also older people. Some heads of households distance themselves from their families and, at best, provide for their loved ones materially. I would like the situation to change, including an increased role for men in family matters. I think Father's Day would be a good reason to remind men that they serve as an example and support for their children," said Father Vadim.
Speaking on the topic of fatherhood, a mother of many children, Tamara Dubrovskaya, proposed considering the possibility of remote work during the paternity leave following the birth of a child. "This way, the head of the family will be close to his loved ones and will be able to continue working remotely, so that the family budget does not suffer during this period," emphasized the mother of three sons.
The third family to participate in the dialogue platform was Marina and Denis Kulakov. They raised the issue of using maternity capital. "It is very good that these funds have been allowed to be used early for housing acquisition. We, for example, were lucky in this regard: by the time our third daughter was born, we had our own apartment. We would like to use the maternity capital for our children's education. We hope that after school they will be admitted to free tuition at a university, but if only paid tuition is possible, maternity capital will help us," expressed Marina Kulakova.
