The ground has been equipped within the framework of implementing the local initiative "Five Steps to Your Salvation" of the project "Support for Local Development in the Republic of Belarus," which is financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
The new sports facility features a special outdoor plastic surface, a set of mini-football goals, portable pedestals, and lighting fixtures. Sound equipment and sports uniforms have also been purchased.
The press service emphasised that the creation of a modern sports base for children and adolescents became possible thanks to the victory of the Polotsk Specialised Children and Youth Olympic Reserve School in the local initiatives competition. The partners of the sports school in participating in this competition were the Polotsk City and District Department for Emergency Situations, the Polotsk State Chemical-Technological College, and Secondary School No. 8.
The location for equipping the ground was not chosen by chance. "The development of the camp's infrastructure for leisure and sports activities will contribute to engaging the younger generation in a healthy lifestyle, and will also allow for the organisation of sports and preventive events to teach children the basics of safe living, united by the thematic idea 'Five Steps to Your Salvation'," the press service explained.
The grand opening of the ground will take place on October 31. On this day, the "Lesnaya Skazka" camp will host a sports and preventive festival to promote the basics of safe living, titled "Five Steps to Your Salvation: We are Proud to Have Taught!". A mini-football tournament, demonstration performances by employees of the Polotsk City and District Department for Emergency Situations, and a concert programme are planned. Approximately 150 schoolchildren and students from the district will be involved in the event.
