The Ministry of Taxes and Duties of Belarus requests individual entrepreneurs – payers of the unified tax – to ensure timely payment of the unified tax for July 2016 in advance due to the denomination, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.

"Due to the denomination of the official monetary unit of Belarus, banks are granted the right not to perform settlement and cash services for clients or to suspend the provision of certain types of services for carrying out banking operations to clients from July 1, 2016. Under such circumstances, considering that the last day for payment of the unified tax for July 2016 is July 1, we draw the attention of individual entrepreneurs – payers of the unified tax – to the need to ensure timely payment of the unified tax in advance," the Ministry emphasized.

The press service reminded that in accordance with Article 52 of the Tax Code of Belarus, in case of fulfilling a tax obligation at a later date compared to that established by legislation, penalties shall be charged for each calendar day of delay, including the day of payment (collection), throughout the entire period of non-fulfillment of the tax obligation, starting from the day following the day of tax payment established by tax legislation.

The decision to denominate the official monetary unit from July 1, 2016, is enshrined in Decree No. 450 of November 4. The denomination will be carried out by replacing the banknotes of the 2000 sample in circulation with banknotes and coins of the 2009 sample at a ratio of 10,000 to 1 Belarusian ruble. Old currency can be exchanged for new ones from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2019, inclusive, at the National Bank, banks, and non-banking credit and financial organizations of Belarus. From January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021, inclusive, old money can be exchanged for new ones only at the National Bank. From January 1, 2022, banknotes of the 2000 sample will be considered invalid.
