On May 24, Polotsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. About 30 volunteers will work with tourists during the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Polotsk, the head of the physical culture, sports and tourism department of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, Galina Kobyak, told a BELTA correspondent. Three mobile excursion bureau points will be located near the railway station, the hotel, and the most visited site by guests - St. Sophia Cathedral. They will introduce tourists to new routes developed specifically for the anniversary and conduct walking tours around the city. The volunteer guides include specialists from the physical culture, sports and tourism department, and the best students of Polotsk State University studying at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Tourism, as well as philology students studying foreign languages. Before becoming volunteer guides, the young people passed a selection competition. Anyone can choose an excursion to their liking: walk through the streets of the ancient city and learn the history of their names, visit places associated with the origins of Belarusian statehood, and get acquainted with Polotsk on its anniversary.
