Depending on the situation, upon discovering such individuals, law enforcement officers will transport them to healthcare facilities or sobering-up stations.
Individuals without a fixed place of residence will also not be overlooked. For the second day, the "Every Person Matters to Us" campaign has been underway in the regional center. Within its framework, police officers identify places where homeless people congregate and transport them to the city's temporary accommodation center. This work will continue throughout the entire period of low temperatures. Furthermore, from December 24, the staff of the Internal Affairs Directorate will transition to an enhanced duty regime until the end of the New Year and Christmas holidays.
Employees of the Vitebsk Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will also switch to a similar operating mode from December 22 to January 13. "However, we are already working in a state of heightened readiness for various situations, taking into account the weather conditions," emphasized the department's press secretary, Marina Fando.
In particular, reserve equipment has been prepared for emergencies, personnel have been instructed, and a training drill for personnel was held last night in response to an alarm. A set of measures to ensure safe living conditions for single, elderly citizens and persons in residential institutions is being implemented in organizations of the social protection system. Uninterrupted operation of heating, water supply, energy, and gas supply systems has been ensured in the region's residential institutions. For safety purposes, control over the condition of attics and basements, and the temperature regime in residential premises has been strengthened. Brigades have been created to eliminate possible emergency situations, and their round-the-clock duty and interaction with the emergency services of settlements have been organized. Increased attention is paid to compliance by employees with labor discipline and fire safety rules, and additional briefings have been held with them. Single and lonely elderly citizens are under the supervision of social workers.
