Currently, wet snow and rain are falling over most of the country, which may lead to icy conditions on certain sections of roads.
The State Automobile Inspectorate recommends that drivers exercise extreme caution and attentiveness. Key rules for safe driving in adverse weather conditions include:
ensuring the braking system and windscreen wipers are in good working order;
adhering to speed limits and avoiding risky maneuvers;
increasing the following distance and lateral interval.
Pedestrians should be aware that the braking distance of any vehicle increases significantly on slippery roads. Cross roads at designated crossings only after ensuring all vehicles have come to a complete stop. In conditions of poor visibility, make yourself visible with reflective elements.
Dear road users, your prudent behaviour and considerate attitude towards each other will help prevent unpleasant, and sometimes severe, consequences.
Traffic Police officers continue to monitor the road situation. Patrol units are oriented to provide assistance to all road users who find themselves in difficult situations.
