On January 24, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Dairy processing enterprises of the Vitebsk region, in accordance with the regional dairy industry development program, intend to invest more than Br364.1 billion in technical re-equipment in 2012-2015, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
Over the four-year period, it is planned to introduce additional cheese production capacities through the construction of new workshops at JSC "Postavy Dairy Plant", Braslav branch of JSC "Glubokoye Dairy and Canned Goods Combine"; for the production of whole milk powder and skimmed milk powder by utilising existing capacities, as well as creating new capacities at JSC "Lepel Dairy and Canned Goods Combine", JSC "Orsha Dairy Combine", JSC "Glubokoye Dairy and Canned Goods Combine". It is envisaged to implement measures ensuring the rational use of whey, including sour whey: curd and casein whey. In 2011, a workshop for the production of dry demineralised whey with a processing capacity of 200 tonnes per day was commissioned at JSC "Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory". The use of an electrodialysis unit will allow obtaining up to 2 thousand tonnes of high-quality dry whey with different demineralisation degrees in 2012. In 2012, a similar workshop for the production of dry demineralised whey with a processing capacity of 500 tonnes per day will be built at Vitebsk JSC "Moloko". The estimated payback period for investments in the processing industry will be 4-5 years on average.
The implementation of these measures will improve the structure of milk processing, maximise the use of secondary dairy resources, enhance the quality and competitiveness of products, and reduce production costs. The implementation of measures for technical re-equipment, quality improvement, and sales system enhancement will increase dairy product exports. In 2015, the region's dairy processing enterprises plan to produce: 17.7 thousand tonnes of butter, 17 thousand tonnes of full-fat cheese; 250 thousand tonnes of whole milk products; 75 million conventional cans of dairy preserves; almost 83 thousand tonnes of milk powder.
According to the Committee for Agriculture and Foodstuffs, one of the most expedient ways to develop the dairy industry in the region is the creation of a network of cooperative and integration structures, uniting organizations processing milk with organizations producing milk and trading organizations, integrating their production, sales, supply, organizational, resource, and financial and economic capabilities. Such a product-oriented dairy sub-complex of the agro-industrial complex ensures the balance of industries connected by the technological process of final product manufacturing.
The Program for the Development of the Dairy Industry of the Vitebsk Region for 2012-2015 has been developed based on the Republican Program for the Development of the Dairy Industry.
