On May 20, Moscow / Eduard Pivovar - BELTA /. The sixth international cycling race "Youth of Belarus and Russia - Road to the Future of the Union State" started today in Smolensk. Leaders of youth public organizations, young parliamentarians, scientists, teachers and students are taking part in this sports and patriotic event dedicated to the 66th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BELTA was informed by the Standing Committee of the Union State. Wishing the cyclists well, the Governor of the Smolensk Region, Sergey Antufiev, noted that this cycling tour "has found a response in the hearts of young people living in the Union State." According to him, young men and women of Belarus and Russia have much in common, they want to build the future of the two states together. The cycling race will follow the route Smolensk - Krasny - Orsha - Vitebsk - Velizh – Demidov. Its total length will be 345 km. The organizers of the event are the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Department of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Smolensk Region with the support of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Department for Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Education of Belarus, the Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of Russia and the administrations of the municipalities of the Smolensk Region. During the cycling race, it is planned to hold youth patriotic events, cultural and leisure and charity events, sports festivals, and friendly matches in team sports.-0-
