9 November, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Youth of the Vitebsk region will compete in jigsaw puzzle assembly: on 18 November, the II regional jigsaw puzzle assembly championship "Belarus and I" will be held in Vitebsk, the regional committee of the BRSM informed a BELTA correspondent. Around 50 teams of three people, formed from students of vocational and higher education institutions of the region, will participate in the engaging competition. The young people have already proven their skills by winning preliminary qualifying rounds held within their respective educational institutions. As last year, the regional championship will take place at the Lenin Library. The competition programme includes two tasks. In the first, team members will have to assemble a common puzzle quickly and accurately. In the second, the result will depend on the individual skill of each participant: contestants will only be able to start assembling the team puzzle after completing their own individual puzzle. The winners will be awarded diplomas, commemorative gifts, and the right to represent the Vitebsk region at the national championship in Minsk. At the championship, participants will have to assemble puzzles depicting famous Belarusian landmarks. Those who know their country well, its most prominent historical buildings and modern sites, will find it easier to participate in the competition, the BRSM noted. Therefore, in the run-up to the competition, young people are not only training in speed puzzle assembly but also actively enriching their knowledge about Belarus. The event is aimed at fostering patriotism among youth, shaping an active life stance, and introducing new forms of leisure organisation for students. The organisers are the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM.-0-
