The regional youth tourist rally will be held on June 16-18 on the shore of Lake Plissa in the Glubokoe district and will be dedicated to the Year of Science, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

"The event is quite large-scale: about 20 teams from cities and districts of the region are expected, with 25 people in each. This is mainly working youth under 31 years of age, but there will also be representatives of the older generation - after all, the transfer of tourist experience is also important. Moreover, a serious competition program awaits the participants, which will be judged by judges of national category," noted Vladimir Naslednikov, chief specialist of the main department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the regional executive committee.

The sports program includes competitions in tourist and applied multi-discipline events in mountain-hiking, cycling and water tourism techniques, and an orienteering relay race. Participants will need to demonstrate skills in knot tying, rope ascent and descent, bivouac organization, wading crossing, first aid, and other skills. The competition program will largely feature a scientific theme. Teams will present their introductory presentations on the topic "Science for the Economy," wall newspapers, tourist life skills, and participate in the local history quiz "Vyotoki zyamli belaruskai" (Roots of the Belarusian Land), dedicated to significant events in the lives of famous people and organizations of the region.

The tourist rally is organized by the main department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs, and the department of sports and tourism of the regional executive committee.
