The Republican campaign of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organisation "Ready to Defend the Fatherland!" will take place from February 20-25 in all regions of Belarus, project coordinator Dmitry Turoнок told BELTA.
The campaign is dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day. Participants can expect excursions to military units of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the border guard service of Belarus. Young people will have the opportunity to get closer to real army life and learn firsthand about military service and the daily life of service members.
Dmitry Turoнок noted that "Open Dialogues" between the command of units and formations and pre-conscription youth will be held during the campaign. Constitutional and legal foundations of military service and contract service will be discussed. Competitions in pre-conscription training are also planned, and participants will be familiarised with the protective equipment of Belarusian rescuers, the gear and technical equipment of internal troops and the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Security Department. In addition, master classes on first aid in emergency situations, meetings with MOOP commanders, and presentations of the activities of the BRSM youth law enforcement movement units will be held.
The youth project "Ready to Defend the Fatherland!" is aimed at fostering qualities of a citizen-patriot in young people and popularising military service, Dmitry Turoнок emphasised. The campaign is traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Committee.
