Youth Law Enforcement Squads to Meet in Polotsk for "Open Dialogue"

Participants of youth law enforcement units from all over Belarus will gather in Polotsk, where at an "Open Dialogue" they will discuss the future of their movement with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as reported to BelTA by Yekaterina Petrashkevich, Head of the Project Activities Department of the BRSM Central Committee.

A series of republican events dedicated to the Day of Youth Law Enforcement Units (MOOP) will be held on February 2, with the participation of over 250 best representatives of this movement from all regions of the country. One of the important events will be an "Open Dialogue" on the topic "The Present and Future of the Youth Law Enforcement Movement," which will bring together MOOP youth and experts – representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations – for a discussion. The organisers are confident that such communication will allow for finding new approaches in shaping the value orientations of the younger generation in our country. Before the discussion begins, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a thematic exhibition of the regional and Minsk city headquarters of the BRSM MOOP.

The programme of events will be opened by the patriotic event "We Remember and Are Proud" at the monument to the Soviet liberator soldiers of Polotsk. The moment will be given special solemnity by the military band of military unit 5530, which the MOOP members will also visit later for an excursion: they will learn about the life and daily routine of military personnel, and view an exhibition of weapons and special equipment used by the internal troops. Tactical masterclasses will be organised (practicing hand-to-hand combat techniques, neutralising a criminal group, actions of a sapper group upon detection of an explosive device).

The culmination of the day will be the solemn awarding of the winners of the republican competition for the best youth law enforcement unit and the best MOOP headquarters based on the results of 2016. By the way, among the prize-winners there are many representatives from the Vitebsk region, which determined the venue for the rally. In particular, in the nomination "Best Youth Law Enforcement Unit for Interaction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus", the MOOP of Polotsk State University won. For interaction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the unit "NeobUZDAnnye" named after N. Novitsky from the city of Uzda, Minsk region, took first place, and the Polotsk representatives from the State Chemical and Technological College were second again. Among the MOOP headquarters, after yielding the palm to Minsk City, the Vitebsk Regional Headquarters took second place. The department of the Glubokskoye District Department of Internal Affairs was recognized as the "Best Territorial Law Enforcement and Prevention Department for Interaction with MOOP". And only among the best MOOP commanders, there were no representatives from the northern region. The leader here was recognized as the commander of the "Bars" unit of the Molodechno Trade and Economics College, Oksana Apetenok.

MOOP Day was established by the Belarusian Republican Youth Union in 2012 and is celebrated annually on February 6. Traditionally, in the first week of February, presentations of the activities of youth law enforcement units, ceremonies, and celebrations of the best activists of the movement are held throughout the country.
