On February 22, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. A young man risked his life to rescue a four-year-old child from a burning house in the village of Mekhovoye, Gorodok district, Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told BELTA correspondent. The fire occurred around noon on February 21 in a semi-detached house, one of the apartments of which was inhabited by a widow with two children. The woman worked as a milkmaid on a farm and, as a rule, after sending her elder eight-year-old daughter to school, she took her younger son with her to work. On that fateful day, the boy fell ill, and his mother decided to leave him at home. She had not yet reached the farm when she was informed about the fire in the apartment. The cries for help from her housemate were heard by 23-year-old Evgeny Semenov, a fitter at the Bychikha section of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Gorodok Heating and Heat Supply Enterprise," who was in the neighboring house. Learning from the neighbor that there was a child in the apartment, the man broke down the front door lock, entered the house, and found the child unconscious on the floor. He carried the boy out and handed him over to his mother, who administered artificial respiration to the child before the ambulance arrived. According to doctors, the timely first aid given allowed the boy to survive. The child was taken to the Gorodok District Hospital, but after three hours was sent to the Vitebsk Regional Hospital in the intensive care unit. He is currently in serious condition, and doctors are fighting for his life. The child suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was children's mischief. The apartment is no longer suitable for habitation. The family will live in the same village with their grandmother. It is worth noting that the family was visited by education workers, the Department of Emergency Situations, the district inspector, and an inspection commission. There were never any complaints against the mother. -0-
