Newlyweds in Vitebsk will present their favourite books to first-graders today, the ZAGS department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The "Gift Your Favourite Childhood Book to a First-Grader" campaign has been conducted by the city ZAGS department since the beginning of this year. All young people who applied to formalise their family union were invited by the staff to share their favourite children's books. Many newlyweds supported this initiative. Thus, by Knowledge Day, a rather impressive collection of over 100 books of various kinds had been gathered. These include fairy tales, fiction, educational, and scientific literature, as well as developmental books. For example, Chekhov's stories, "Children's Encyclopedia for Little Gentlemen," "My First Book About Humans," "All About Style for Super Girls," "I Discover the World," "Children's Encyclopedia of Health," etc. Several newlywed couples, who will be registering their marriage today, will take all the collected literature to Secondary School No. 2, where they will present it to first-graders during the festive assembly with their best wishes, specialists added, emphasizing that the city ZAGS department will continue the practice of holding kind-hearted campaigns for children. -0-
