To express the kindest words on the occasion of new additions to families, convey sincere wishes of health and well-being to the country's young citizens and their parents, and to present gifts, the Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, Mikhail Vishnevetsky, and the Chairperson of the regional organization of the Belarusian Women's Union, Galina Zhelanova, came to the event. As noted by the Chief Physician of the maternity hospital, Elena Leonovich, it has been a long time since such an event occurred at the institution, where women gave birth on the same day to their fifth child in the family. The congratulatory tour of the wards began with them.
Margarita Khmelinina from Shumilino received congratulations on the birth of her son, and now the family, as in a fairy tale, has four sons and one darling daughter. Victoria Moiseenko, a resident of Lepel, accepted with a smile the wish to not stop and to come to the maternity hospital again for a daughter to make the count even – three girls and three boys. It is noteworthy that representatives from the women's districts also came to Vitebsk to congratulate these mothers of large families, the heads of the Shumilino and Lepel district organizations of the Women's Union, Svetlana Timoshenko and Natalia Stashkevich. They found sponsors among private organizations for additional gifts, as such a request cannot be ignored.
"Attention on Mother's Day is very pleasant," said Margarita Khmelinina in response to the congratulations. "We thank the state for its constant support of large families, and we are immensely grateful to the doctors of the maternity hospital for their attention and help."
Congratulations and commemorative albums for the first photographs of their newborns were also received on this day by those who became mothers for the first time, and those who experienced this happiness for the second or fourth time. Among them was Anna Zemlyanko, a nurse anesthetist at the regional maternity hospital, who gave birth to her son, so to speak, without leaving her workplace. By the way, on the day of the Intercession itself, two girls and a boy were born at the maternity hospital.
In conclusion of the event, Mikhail Vishnevetsky noted in a conversation with journalists the importance of such meetings with mothers to support them and observe their mood. Thanks to the systematic and well-thought-out state policy in this area, the number of second births has increased by 18 percent over the past ten years. From January 1, a regional group for selecting women with infertility for IVF will start operating. All family support programs and the existing benefits system are aimed at strengthening demographic security, encouraging our women to have more children, and ensuring they grow up in happy, healthy, and prosperous families.
