On September 7, Minsk / BELTA correspondent /. Monitoring of social service institutions in the Vitebsk region will be held on September 8-9, the press secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Varvara Alexandrovich, told BELTA.
During the tour of social service institutions in the Vitebsk region, a report by the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee on social services for the elderly and disabled, and the strengthening of the material and technical base of institutions is planned. Among the participants of the event are heads and specialists of the ministry, chairmen of the committees for labour, employment and social protection of regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
The network of stationary social service institutions in the Vitebsk region includes 15 boarding houses for the elderly and disabled, including 5 general type boarding houses, 9 psychoneurological boarding houses, and 1 boarding house for children with disabilities with psychophysical development features. They are home to 3,281 people, including 2,298 in psychoneurological social service institutions. The Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and boarding houses are constantly working to improve social services for the elderly and disabled who need constant external help and care. Residents are provided with five meals a day according to established norms, clothing, footwear, and bedding, and necessary household services are ensured. Residential premises in all boarding houses comply with established sanitary norms (7 sq. m per person). Safe living conditions are ensured. Boarding houses provide round-the-clock care, and residents receive necessary medical assistance and physiotherapy procedures. All residents underwent an in-depth medical examination in 2010. This year, 85% of residents have been examined, and 100% coverage will be ensured by the end of the year.
Fire safety of boarding houses is under special control. Dormitories are equipped with autonomous fire detectors. A voice notification system has been installed, and drills have been conducted with the service personnel on actions in case of fire. -0-
