On November 11, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk is entering its third decade with a new international project "The Illusion of Disappearance". The exhibition hall features works by 14 female artists from five countries, as reported by the museum's director Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya at a press conference, according to a BELTA correspondent. This is a new project of the museum, which, as its organizers hope, will develop annually. Only female artists will be invited to participate in it, as the project's goal is to show that serious art is accessible not only to men. The first exhibition of the project is united by the theme of love, which is why it was titled "The Illusion of Disappearance. I love you". "On the one hand, it is a banal title, anyone can decipher these English words, but at the same time, the phrase 'I love you' is very serious and multifaceted, it is simple, but profound," explained the choice of theme by the exhibition curator, Vitebsk artist Victoria Krupskaya. Artists from Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Germany, and France are participating in the vernissage. Their works are executed in various techniques, but each carries its own understanding of love: love for parents, a partner, a child, creativity, and one's homeland. The exhibition is organized with the assistance of the Embassy of France in Belarus and the Consulate of Latvia in Vitebsk. In September 2011, the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk celebrated its 20th anniversary. The museum implements projects that concern not only Chagall's work. Contemporary art exhibitions are held regularly from November to May. This year alone, authors from Latvia, France, and the USA have exhibited here. -0-
