A man saved unattended neighbour children from death during a fire in Vitebsk district, the Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations informed BelTA correspondent. The Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in an apartment in Luzhesno urban settlement on 23 December at 9:31 from a neighbour. Upon arrival of the first unit at the scene, smoke was observed in a two-room apartment. A woman with two children, girls born in 2007 and 2008, lives there. At the time of the fire, the children were home alone. Before the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, the children were rescued by a neighbour. There were no casualties. The fire was extinguished by Ministry of Emergency Situations officers. The cause of the fire is currently being established. Property was damaged in the kitchen, and the walls were smoked. In total, 44 fires were recorded in Belarus over the past day, during which 9 people died and 7 people were rescued. A fire with a double fatality occurred in Gorki, Mogilev region. The preliminary cause of the fire is carelessness when smoking. A man and a woman, who were unemployed, died.-0-
