It is difficult to surprise anyone in Stai with a stage performance. Almost everyone here, especially young people, sings, dances, and plays a wide variety of musical instruments.
Thus, "Sunichki" is the foundation upon which the Stai Children's Art School is built. Since this year, it has been a branch of the Lepel Children's Art School, managed by Alena Baradzejka.
Stai's "Sunichki" encompasses three artistic activities: choreography, instrumental music, and vocal music. In addition, a drama department has been established at the school this year.
Children in Stai, from the youngest to the oldest, grow up and are nurtured on stage. The music school teachers, working together – Alena Pamalejka in the children's folk instrument ensemble, Natallia Maliayka in the accordionist ensemble, Ludmila Shipulya in the vocal group "Rechan'ka", and others – strive not only to prepare children for stage performances but also for life, setting more serious pedagogical goals and acting in close cooperation with the secondary school. Therefore, one can find not only exceptionally talented children with great promise at the art school. No one is turned away. The age range is broad – from three years old, when many still mispronounce words, to the graduating class, with a ready ticket to independent life. Children from so-called "problematic" families also attend. And this yields tangible results. By engaging with the world of art, children clearly become better in spirit, they learn responsibility and self-discipline. The stage rewards patience and hard work, and demands a great deal.
Children play various musical instruments. Classes are offered in cimbalom, bayan, accordion, harmonica, violin, piano, domra, and even bagpipes.
