President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, while receiving a report from the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Yuri Senko, touched upon the topic of Belarusian-Chinese relations, considering that the current trade union leader previously held the post of Ambassador to the PRC for several years, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"Your Chinese experience is very important to me here. Because sometimes trade unions are detached from reality and start saying: 'This is needed, that is needed...' I always support the working people, and that is absolutely right. But you know, in order to demand something, you have to work. And you have seen how the Chinese work. Of course, our people do not work like that and probably will not. But if we were close to the work and the volumes that Chinese workers perform, I think we would be several times richer. Therefore, this experience is very important for the trade union leader himself," said the head of state.
He inquired of Yuri Senko how he had settled in after returning from China and if there were any personal matters.
In turn, Yuri Senko thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the unique experience gained during his years of work in China. Three years, he assured, were not in vain. The diplomat visited three dozen provinces, virtually all of China. "I know the situation. Everywhere in China, they know us, hear us, understand us, and value our friendship and our relations. I am convinced that the strong friendship that has been established will last for a long time and will yield results," said the current chairman of the FTUB.
Alexander Lukashenko warned in this regard that Yuri Senko, in addition to his main duties in trade union work, would be in demand as an expert and even a participant in certain processes related to relations with the PRC.
As with the customs sphere – before his appointment to China, Yuri Senko headed the State Customs Committee. "You worked there for a long time. And we will always need your fresh perspective – independent, even alternative – in one aspect or another," noted the Belarusian leader.
"I am always ready to fulfill the tasks set," assured Yuri Senko.
