Gadgets have taken on the roles of both notepads and postmen. Convenient? Undoubtedly. But are we losing something very important and personal in the process?

A literary assortment titled "With a Flying Flourish of the Pen" was held in the reading room of the central district library, within the "Discovering the World" club. It was dedicated to Handwriting Day, celebrated worldwide on January 23rd.

Librarian Irina Gorbunova informed the participants about the history of this date and reminded them that in the age of digital technologies, it is especially valuable to preserve the uniqueness and beauty of handwriting. After all, a person's handwriting is a reflection of their personality, almost an art form!

Then, everyone had the opportunity to feel like calligraphers! Participants tried to form letters and studied beautiful illuminated letters in old books.

Writing beautifully, as in penmanship classes, is not an easy task, but it is incredibly engaging. It forces one to pause, concentrate, and invest a piece of oneself into each letter.
