In rainy weather, be careful on the roads!

  Heavy rainfall is currently occurring across most of the country, complicating road conditions.

  In such weather conditions, drivers on wet and slippery surfaces should avoid sudden manoeuvres, acceleration, and braking. To prevent aquaplaning, reduce speed before puddles. Drive through such sections with the steering wheel held straight and turn on your windscreen wipers to maximum speed in advance. After driving through deep puddles, dry the brake discs and pads by lightly and briefly pressing the brake pedal.

  Ensure that external lights, and the cabin heating and ventilation system are in good working order. If windows fog up, direct a warm airflow onto them.

  Exercise particular caution when driving through pedestrian crossings, reducing speed in advance, even if no pedestrians are visible. Be prepared to stop if they appear suddenly.

  Pedestrians should understand that the braking distance of any vehicle increases significantly on a slippery road. Cross the roadway at designated locations and only after ensuring that all drivers have noticed you and are yielding. In conditions of poor visibility, make yourself visible with reflective elements.
