A practical seminar for educational psychologists, social educators, and form tutors of Lepel district was held at the gymnasium. The seminar was conducted by specialists from the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Centre for Psychiatry and Narcology: chief child psychiatrist Elena Danilova and psychologist Olga Borisova.

The topic was complex but extremely important: the prevention of suicidal and self-harming behaviour in adolescents.

The figures shared by the specialists are thought-provoking. The problem is becoming more pressing each year, and the age of children susceptible to such thoughts and actions is decreasing. However, the main message is that an increase in identified cases is not a failure but a first step towards help. The key is to see and understand.

Olga Borisova also conducted a training session for 15 gymnasium students aged 13-15. Learning to cope with difficult emotions, talk about them, and seek support is as important a skill as mathematics or languages.
