With the aim of preventing fires and deaths from them, as well as training the population on actions upon the signal "Attention all!", from February 27 to March 24, rescuers will hold the republican campaign "Safety Day. Attention all!", dedicated to the International Civil Defence Day.
The first stage will take place from February 27 to March 10 in educational institutions of the city and district. Thematic "safety lessons" will also be held here, where rescuers will explain to children how to behave in case of emergencies, how to prevent them, and show educational films from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Also, in educational institutions, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will conduct school-wide evacuations. Rescuers will also participate in parent-teacher meetings, where they will talk about the main causes of fires and how to prevent them, as well as remind about children's adherence to safety rules during the spring holidays.
The target audience of the second stage, which will last from March 13 to March 24, will be residents of dormitories and inhabitants of rural settlements. Dormitory residents will be offered interactive preventive discussions on safety in dormitories, causes of fires in them, as well as actions upon the signal "Attention all!".
In rural settlements, large-scale "Safety Fair" events will be held with citizens in Houses of Culture and in open spaces.
An emergency situation of a natural or man-made nature is always a real threat to people's lives and health. The absence of notification in such a case can lead to panic, material damage, and, most frighteningly, loss of life.
Today, a notification system has been created in Belarus and, importantly, is being improved at the republican, territorial, local, and facility levels. Its main task is to promptly convey information about all types of dangers and about instructions for carrying out protective measures.
Emergency warning signals are transmitted through broadcasting and television networks, wired communication, and SMS messages to mobile phones. Sirens are also activated, and signals from vehicles and street loudspeakers are used.
The generally accepted civil defence signals are: "Attention all!", "Air raid alert", "All clear", "Radiation hazard", "Chemical hazard".
First and foremost, the warning signal "Attention all!" is given to attract people's attention. It can be recognised by the sound of electric sirens and other signalling devices lasting for 3 minutes. If you hear such a signal at home, you should immediately turn on your radio receivers or televisions. At this time, an emergency message will be broadcast, which will inform about the emergency situation that has occurred and provide all necessary recommendations for subsequent actions. If you are at work, switch off the equipment. Bring the wired broadcasting nodes located in the notified area to readiness, turn on radio and television stations. Inform others about the received signal and prepare to listen to the voice information. Further conduct should be determined directly by these instructions.
