Places of mass extermination of the population of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War have been discovered in the Lepel region. Search operations are ongoing near the M-3 highway these days.

The mass graves, in which the remains of several hundred people were discovered, are further confirmation of the genocide of the Belarusian people.

It has been preliminarily established that the remains belong to men, women, and children.

Today, the Prosecutor of Vitebsk Region, Andrei Skurat, arrived at the site of the horrific discovery. Together with his colleagues, as well as representatives of the 52nd Search Battalion, he examined the progress of the search operations.

We remind you that a criminal case regarding the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War is being handled by the Prosecutor General's Office. Assistance in the investigation is provided by employees of the Investigative Committee, the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and employees of other state bodies and organisations.

Excavations are being carried out by the 52nd Separate Specialized Search Battalion.
