On February 17th at 8:31 AM, rescuers received a report of a house fire in the village of Kuleshi, Lepel district.
The fire was discovered by a neighbour, who, before the rescuers arrived, entered the house through an unlocked door. In a smoke-filled room, he found a man born in 1970, whom he led outside to fresh air and handed over to the arriving medics. The rescued man was hospitalised with smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished by the arriving rescuers. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The suspected cause of the fire is careless handling of fire while smoking.
Dear citizens! Please observe fire safety rules in your homes, refrain from smoking in residential areas, and ensure that matches and cigarettes are fully extinguished after use. Install autonomous smoke detectors in your living rooms, which will promptly alert you to danger in the event of a fire. And remember: one unextinguished cigarette can cost a life, or even more!
